Traffic Planner/Designer
Work directly with an Australian client on a team built to feel like part of theirs. Hybrid, day shift, real growth path. Details below.
JOB TITLE – TRAFFIC PLANNER/DESIGNER
Design safer journeys from the ground up. We’re looking for a practical, detail-driven Traffic Planner/Designer who can turn site information into clear, compliant and buildable traffic guidance schemes. If you know RapidPlan inside out and take pride in plans that protect road users, pedestrians and work crews, you’ll make an immediate impact.
Role Overview
As our Traffic Planner/Designer, you’ll prepare accurate, site-specific Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGSs), Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and supporting documentation for projects across New South Wales. Using RapidPlan, you’ll translate site conditions, staging requirements and stakeholder feedback into practical arrangements that support safe, efficient movement around roadworks, civil works, utilities, events and other temporary traffic management activities.
Key Responsibilities
· Design Site-Specific Plans: Prepare TGSs and TMPs in RapidPlan for roadworks, civil works, utilities, events and other temporary traffic management activities.
· Plan Every Movement: Develop clear arrangements for road and lane closures, pedestrian diversions, detours, worksite access and event traffic.
· Translate Site Information: Interpret client briefs, permits, staging details, site conditions and field feedback to create accurate, workable plans.
· Keep Every Plan Compliant: Align designs and documentation with TfNSW requirements, the current TCAWS standard and relevant Australian Standards.
· Respond and Refine: Revise plans promptly in response to reviewer comments, authority conditions, operational changes and site constraints.
· Coordinate the Details: Work with operations teams, clients, councils, road authorities and other stakeholders to support approvals and smooth delivery.
· Maintain Clear Records: Keep plans, revisions, approvals and related correspondence organised, accurate and easy to retrieve.
Skills & Experience
· Proven experience producing TGSs for Australian traffic management companies, ideally across NSW projects.
· Advanced or highly confident RapidPlan capability is essential.
· Strong knowledge of TfNSW requirements, the current TCAWS standard, temporary traffic management principles and relevant Australian Standards.
· Experience designing road closures, lane closures, pedestrian access, detours, work zones and event traffic arrangements.
· Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy, compliance and practical constructability.
· Strong attention to detail, time management and confidence managing multiple plan requests and revisions.
· Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with reviewers, coordinators, clients and authorities.
· A current NSW PWZ or PWZTMP qualification is highly preferred; applicants with previous experience working under an NSW PWZ-qualified reviewer will also be considered.
