Lead the numbers with confidence. We’re looking for a detail-driven Team Lead Accountant who can guide a team, keep financial operations moving smoothly, and ensure Australian accounting and payroll requirements are handled with accuracy and care.

Role Overview

As our Team Lead Accountant, you’ll oversee accounting and finance operations for Australian clients, reviewing work across AR, AP, payroll, compliance, reconciliations, and reporting. You’ll coach team members, keep deliverables on track, and help improve processes so the team delivers accurate, timely, and client-ready work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Accounting Flow: Oversee day-to-day AR, AP, payroll, and general accounting functions so work is accurate, complete, and delivered on time.

• Review with Precision: Check accounting work prepared by team members for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Australian standards and client requirements.

• Keep Payroll Compliant: Prepare and review Australian payroll, superannuation, STP, payroll tax, contractor reconciliations, and TPAR requirements.

• Own Reporting Quality: Review bank reconciliations, BAS, IAS, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, month-end reports, and profit and loss reconciliations.

• Guide the Team: Lead, mentor, allocate work, review deliverables, and support the technical and professional growth of accountants and finance team members.

• Partner with Clients: Act as a key contact for accounting and finance matters, join client meetings, provide updates, and escalate complex concerns when needed.

• Improve the Way We Work: Help develop SOPs, strengthen controls, and identify workflow improvements that lift quality, compliance, and efficiency.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in Australian accounting within public practice, outsourced accounting, shared services, or finance operations.

• Strong hands-on experience across AR, AP, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.

• Confident preparing and reviewing Australian payroll, superannuation, STP, payroll tax, BAS, IAS, TPAR, and ATO compliance requirements.

• Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising a team is preferred.

• Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles, payroll legislation, and compliance requirements.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and cloud accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar software.
