Bring precision to every return. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountant who can prepare accurate working papers, support client tax compliance, and partner closely with an onshore team to keep work moving with confidence and care.
Work Setup: Remote (with onsite schedules upon client request)
Role Overview
As our Senior Tax Accountant, you’ll complete working papers, prepare tax compliance reports, and support the onshore team across core client tax requirements. You’ll apply strong technical knowledge, keep records accurate, and help ensure deadlines, standards, and client expectations are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare Financial Statements: Review general ledger balances, prepare working papers, complete adjustments, perform year-end accrual reviews, and generate financial statements for clients.
Complete Tax Returns: Draft tax returns in Xero Tax, prepare tax reconciliations and provisions, claim appropriate deductions and offsets, and ensure returns are complete and validation-ready.
Maintain Compliance: Complete tax compliance checklists, manage workflows, meet client deadlines, and prepare daily timesheets in the required client application.
Raise Queries Early: Proactively identify questions, gaps, and suggestions in client records to support timely and accurate working paper preparation.
Support ATO Requirements: Prepare and lodge monthly, quarterly, or annual Activity Statements, including IAS or BAS, as required.
Handle Ad Hoc Tasks: Support additional client management tasks as requested by the Team Manager or Service Delivery Manager.
Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business with an emphasis in Accounting; CA or CPA completed.
7+ years’ experience within an Australian public practice firm, with references required.
Advanced understanding of relevant accounting standards, tax legislation, and Corporation Act requirements.
Strong knowledge of Tax Acts and legislation.
Exceptional attention to detail, with excellent time management and organisational skills.
Highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
Experience with accounting software such as XPM, Xero, MYOB, and BGL Super would be advantageous.
