We're looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Underwriting Administrator who thrives behind the scenes, ensuring every request, policy, and broker interaction is handled accurately and efficiently. Role Overview
Reporting to the Underwriting Team Leader, you'll provide essential administrative and operational support to the underwriting team, ensuring broker requests, policy administration, and documentation are handled accurately and efficiently. You'll play a key role in delivering outstanding service, keeping workflows on track, and supporting the smooth day-to-day operations of the underwriting function while growing your expertise across insurance operations.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Underwriting Team: Provide timely administrative support to ensure underwriting operations run efficiently.
Deliver Excellent Service: Build strong relationships with brokers and internal teams through responsive, professional communication.
Manage Policy Administration: Process renewals, cancellations, broker closures, debtor communications, and related underwriting tasks accurately and on time.
Handle Documentation: Maintain accurate records and issue Certificates of Currency, policy schedules, endorsements, tax statements, and claims histories as required.
Coordinate Broker Access: Set up and manage broker access requests with accuracy and efficiency.
Triage Incoming Requests: Assess submissions, identify missing information, prioritise work, and ensure requests are directed appropriately.
Monitor Workflow: Track outstanding requests, follow up proactively, and help meet service level agreements and turnaround times.
Escalate When Needed: Resolve routine enquiries independently and escalate complex or high-risk matters promptly.
Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with underwriters and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth handovers and efficient case management.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Support operational initiatives, identify process improvements, and contribute to the ongoing success of the underwriting team.
Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Previous experience in insurance, underwriting support, financial services, or customer service is highly regarded.
Understanding of underwriting processes and basic insurance products.
Experience working with insurance systems, digital platforms, or high-volume email workflows.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach.
Strong organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple competing tasks.
Exceptional attention to detail and a process-driven mindset.
Sound judgement and the ability to triage requests, identify priorities, and escalate issues appropriately.
A collaborative team player who enjoys working across departments to deliver exceptional service.
Proactive, adaptable, and eager to grow into broader underwriting and insurance operations responsibilities.
