Role Overview
As an AU Senior Fund Accountant, you’ll support the Finance Manager and Chief Financial Officer in managing financial operations for both the management company and fund entities. You’ll handle general accounting, financial reporting, compliance support, fund administration, budgeting, and cash management while helping maintain accurate records and strong financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
Manage Core Accounting: Process weekly bank and credit card reconciliations, follow up on outstanding receipts, and maintain accurate accounting records.
Prepare Management Accounts: Prepare monthly management accounts, reconciliations, month-end journals, and consolidated management accounts for management companies.
Handle AP, AR, and Payroll: Perform accounts payable and receivable functions, process invoices, reconcile payments, and manage payroll, superannuation, and related activities.
Support Financial Controls: Assist with budgeting, cash flow management, internal controls, and quarterly and annual reporting requirements including BAS, financial statements, and tax returns.
Coordinate Fund Administration: Work with the external fund administrator on fund accounting, investor reporting, and fund administration matters.
Review Fund Reports: Review fund trial balances, general ledgers, investor capital accounts, quarterly reporting packs, NAV reporting, IRR reporting, and investor allocations.
Support Capital Activity: Assist with capital calls, distributions, management fees, fund accounting entries, investment reconciliations, and investor capital balance reviews.
Assist with Audit and Compliance: Prepare year-end financial statements, audit schedules, and responses to auditor queries for management companies and funds.
Liaise with External Partners: Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisers, fund administrators, and other professional service providers.
Improve Reporting Processes: Support quarterly reporting, portfolio valuation, financial analysis, and opportunities to streamline finance processes and reporting workflows.
Skills & Experience
CA or CPA qualified, or currently working towards qualification.
Experience in accounting, finance, or fund operations, ideally within investment management, venture capital, private equity, or financial services.
Fund accounting experience is highly advantageous.
Experience reviewing capital calls, distributions, investor allocations, management fees, NAV reporting, or fund financial statements is preferred.
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
High attention to detail and strong accuracy across accounting and reporting work.
Able to work independently in a flexible or remote working environment while managing deadlines around month-end, quarter-end, and audit periods.
