AU Bookkeeper
AU Bookkeeper needed to own end-to-end bookkeeping for Australian clients — reconciliations, payroll, BAS/IAS, AP/AR — driven by accuracy, ownership, and superb team support. Hybrid/remote.
Step into an AU Bookkeeper role supporting a dynamic business with deep roots in hospitality, specialist brewery operations, restaurants, real estate, nursery operations, and annual events. You’ll work on the bookkeeping function, guide team members, and bring structure, accuracy, and confidence to a business built for someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality, variety, and taking ownership.

Role Overview
As an AU Bookkeeper, you’ll manage accurate, end-to-end bookkeeping across Australian client accounts, supporting day-to-day finance operations, payroll, reconciliations, compliance requirements, and client communication. This role is ideal for someone who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, improve processes, and deliver high-quality outcomes with confidence and care.
Key Responsibilities
Own the Books: Manage end-to-end bookkeeping across multiple Australian client accounts with accuracy and consistency.
Keep the Numbers Clean: Complete bank reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and maintain up-to-date financial records.
Run the Payables and Receivables: Process accounts payable and receivable while keeping client accounts organised and moving smoothly.
Handle Payroll with Confidence: Process end-to-end Australian payroll and support compliance across payroll requirements.
Stay BAS and IAS Ready: Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS in line with Australian GST legislation.
Spot What Others Miss: Identify bookkeeping issues, anomalies, and process gaps before they become bigger problems.
Improve the Way Things Work: Contribute to process improvements and uphold high-quality bookkeeping standards.
Support Clients Well: Liaise professionally with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver responsive, reliable service.
Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
3–4+ years of Australian bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally managing multiple Australian clients within a bookkeeping or accounting firm.
Strong end-to-end bookkeeping experience using Xero.
End-to-end Australian payroll experience is essential.
Strong understanding of Australian GST legislation, including BAS and IAS preparation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Experience with Simpro and/or Employment Hero Payroll is advantageous but not essential.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organisation, and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
Ability to quickly learn new systems, manage competing priorities, and work independently with minimal supervision.
